Padukone comes from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is a village in the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone was a badminton legend, who retired in the late 1980s. The mother of her daughter, who worked for a travel agent, is also from the village.
